And that is what this story is. A fairy tale complete with prince and princess and a happily ever after. I sighed at the end of the story and that is a sure sign it is good. Was the plot believable? Not a bit and I loved it!! The Duke of Saint Giles is one of my most favorite heroes. His princess was one of the best heroines ever. She was strong and loyal and so endearing. They meet after he kidnaps her. He is immediately smitten and their banter is delightful. I loved the entire story and can't wait to read about the other characters in the book. Sullivan and Maggie and Kinsley. I sure hope that their stories are coming. I truly felt a part of this gang of misfits. I am truly loving this author. Give me more Please!!!!Product details

I enjoyed this book. There were many twists and turns in the main characters's plots.
I thought their chemistry and banter were great but some things were a bit overdone, like the criminal aspect. I did think that the awareness and love between the two were great and made this story make me want to read all the others by this author.
This is my favorite series of all her books. Great characters,the story has a nice flow to it. Best of all ,misunderstanding free and aggravating characters free. My favorite kind of story line. .Can't wait for the other stories of the secondary characters to be told.
i must say that i resisted getting this book initially because (a) i was not bowled over by Ms Eaton's books i read earlier, and (b) something about the book cover puts me off. However, i like the storyline, and decided to give it a short. i like it. story is not out-of-the-world. and romance is just nice.
I enjoyed this book because of all the action that so many people you had to read about. jillian Eaton is a very good writer. I've read a few of her books and have not been disappointed. Try one of her books. I'm sure you will e not it.
The Duke of St Giles has a fairy tale feel. The plot is unbelievable yet I could not help but like this story and that's because the characters have a certain sweetness to their actions.
Emily is kidnapped by West, known as the Duke of St. Giles. She is unafraid at first as she has been very sheltered and protected and this is her opportunity to have a great adventure. She senses that her kidnapper will not harm her and her insights are exactly on target.
West is from the rookery and he has elevated himself to being a sort of kingpin of St. Giles, although a benevolent one when it comes to some of the least fortunate of London's slums. His plans to ransom Emily completely go off kilter. He is so charmed by her.
Emily follows her instincts and she knows that West is so much more than he appears. She is not one to give up on her dreams and even though she can be a little immature and way to trusting, I found her kind spirit a perfect remedy to West's hardened heart.
The heroine was a likeable young woman who didn't fit into society well. She was too blunt in her speech and couldn't keep from wearing her heart on her sleeve. People of the ton considered her an odd duck, and despite being the daughter of a duke she hadn't received marriage proposals.
The hero was born and raised in the Rookeries. He had grown up seeing every crime imaginable and now was known as The Duke. He had made his fortune there. He began to feel the need to get out of his life of crime. The estate he had won in a gambling game was where he now felt at home -- no looking over his shoulder. His plan is to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy titled lord and hold her for ransom.
Unfortunately the lady he kidnaps is a different sort of lady. Not only is she argumentative, she is brave and beautiful. Also, unknown to him her father is broke.
There is the usual attraction building between the two. For a crime lord he is extremely handsome and extremely kind. He takes her to the estate and having given her promise to not attempt escape he gives her the run of the place.
A friend of his arrives -- another fellow involved in some shady dealings. But he has a gambling establishment and his fortune is made in a more acceptable manner. The friend sees how things truly lay between the two.
I found the friend to be a bit more interesting than the hero. He will get his comeuppance in romance at some point -- maybe there is a hint in this story?
There is an escape, a reunion, another kidnapping and another reunion.
The story was good -- well worth reading. I recommend it.
